At the end of the presentation we will open it up for questions. You can submit your questions here at any time and we will review then during the Q& A portion of the presentation.
Hello and welcome everyone. We're going to wait just a couple of minutes to get started to make sure everybody has time to get logged into the presentation, so will just give it a couple of minutes here before we get started.
OK, Hello Good morning everyone. We are going to get started with our presentation today. First and foremost. Congratulations on being admitted to in my you tandon and welcome to or orientation. I hope you guys are excited to get the fall semester started. I know it's a unique experience this year. We are really glad that you were on board for participating this fall.
And we hope that you're going to have a fantastic semester.
This presentation here today is going to be talking about documents that the admissions office requires for you to submit at this particular time. We're going to go through the details of that today, whether you specifically need them or not. How you can know whether you need them or not, how to submit them. If you do need to do that, and all of that sort of information today, my name is Carrie Bowling.
I am a counselor here at the graduate admissions office an I am joined by Liani Ramos who will be jumping in in just a second to do the presentation.
Just logistics wise, you may have seen in the chat box there on the left hand side a couple of notes from me, one of which is we will have a Q&A portion at the end of this presentation. The presentation portion itself probably won't go that long just because we want to make sure that we have time to answer your questions. Since this is a short session today and it will only be lasting an hour and we want to make sure that you're able to get to your other sessions.
But again, let's go ahead and get started.
OK, So what do you need to submit? So what's the basically what are we having this conversation about? You may have seen quite a few communications coming from the graduate admissions office throughout your time since you applied, and then also, since you've been accepted and decided to accept your proposal to come to campus, there may have been quite a few emails. What we're looking for from students.
Is if you when you originally applied. If you were still studying, so say you're in your undergrad, your final year of studying you had just completed. Maybe your fall semester and you're just starting your spring semester to graduate in May or graduate this summer. When you applied. You didn't obviously have that final term of mark sheets or transcripts, so obviously those still need to be submitted to our office.
As well as proof that you have received your diploma or graduated Anna degree was awarded to you. So obviously you must complete an undergraduate degree prior to being able to start your Masters level study. So it is required by the University for you to submit that documentation so that we know that you have finished that final semester. You finish your requirements that made you be able to graduate. This is pretty much a given.
It's something that is required now at the time of your application. If you had already completed your bachelors degree, say last year or a couple of years ago and you submit it all that documentation when you originally applied, then there's nothing else that you need to submit to the graduate admissions office specifically. Now do keep in mind that this is for the graduate admissions office only. There are several offices across campus that may be asking for documentation from you.
Depending on you know what your needs are as a student. So like healthcare forms or if you're an international student, the Office of Global Services may be asking for documentation that is not our office, and that's not the documentation will be talking about. Today will only be talking about documentation in relation to your application and the things needed to sort of start in regards to proving that you completed your undergraduate studies.
I hope that's clear. So when we say we need your final term semester marksheets Anna proof of graduation or proof of degree, what do we really mean by that? Well, first and foremost, those documents need to be official in order for us to accept them. And what do we mean by official? So when you submitted your documents when you originally applied, those also had to be submitted officially. So it's going to be basically the same process you need to make sure that the documents are.
Issued directly from your registrar's office that is at your University and they need to be sent directly to our office. So, for example, if your registers office is able to submit documents to us digitally, you can have them sent digitally, or if they are required to submit them.
In a hard copy format you would need to Mail them and we'll talk a little bit more about that in detail about where you would need to submit them in how. But do make sure that the documents are original, there watermarked or embossed from the institution, so that we know that they are official, or if your institution allows, you can have photo copies of the original documents as long as they are attested by the degree granting institution, so your University.
And then there are in a sealed envelope and submit it to us. That way if they are in hard copy format.
Also, again, just like when you applied, translations are required for the documents issued in a language other than English. These do not have to be an A sealed envelope though, that's just your original transcripts that need to be sealed. If they are sent in hard copy format. Obviously if they're sent digitally, they just need to be sent directly from the institution's registrar so that we know that they are official.
And again, just to reiterate, these are only required to submit these documents if you did not submit them during the application process. We know a lot of students get confused by this. You're being asked for a lot of different documents at this time, so we just want to make sure that you understand that some students will need to turn these in. An other students will not OK, I'm going to hand it over to liani now, and she's going to talk about some. We're going to talk about some exception that certain countries may have.
Thanks Carrie. Hi everybody, my name is Leon E Ramos. So we did want to dive in a little bit. As Carrie said into a couple exceptions. I know a lot of you did complete your Bachelor degree in India, so we wanted to go over what we expect to receive from your institutions.
So for India you can submit either your individual marksheets or consolidated. Typically we just request the consolidated, but you can submit either one.
Just remember that they do need to be official, so that means directly from your institutions registrar, office, whether that be official electronic copy to our email or a hard copy, and we will provide that information later in the presentation. But as Carrie mention, it should be the exact same process as before.
For also for India we do accept provisional degrees from the autonomous college that are accepted in place of the proof of degree depending on your date of graduation. So we do understand that the University itself may take a year or so to actually confer your degree and the provisional degree is submitted.
During that time period, so we will accept that, but it's really important to realize that these are temporary only. I did see a question already about provisional degrees, so just make sure that you can submit that as of now, but it is temporary and we will need proof of your final graduation certificate once it's available from your University in an official capacity.
There have been a couple exceptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so one of those things was that earlier in the year we were accepting unofficial transcripts, unofficial provisional degrees.
So if you have submitted that, just be aware that we still do need the official degree certificate. So once your institution is able to provide your official degree certificate that needs to be submitted in order for you to move forward with registration. So I will talk a little bit more in depth in this in a couple slides, but.
The provisional degree will allow you to move forward with.
Registering for fall. Obviously you should have already done that, but a hold will be placed on your account and that hold cannot be removed until you submit your official degree certificate. So even if you submit your provisional that does not satisfy the requirement fully, it is only a temporary situation.
I think that's pretty much everything regarding India, so I'll turn it over to carry for the next slide.
Thanks Leon, Yeah, so for the United States we just want to make a note here because students sometimes get confused if you studied at AUS institution. When we say that you need to provide proof of degree for most international educational institutions, we do need to see your actual diploma or degree certificate that has been.
Issued however, if you studied added US institution, you don't necessarily need to send us your actual physical diploma as long excuse me as long as your US institution has put an indicated on your final semester of transcripts that a degree was awarded an, then what that degree was as well as the conferral date. And what I mean by that is, is the date in which your degree was completed in issued to you.
So usually you'll see this on your transcripts, either at the top or at the bottom on that final semester. It'll say degree awarded. Bachelors of Science in engineering or whatever it might say.
So this only goes for US institutions. So if you studied out of UNC US institution and you were quest electronic transcripts, as most US institutions are able to do that, those final transcripts to be sent to us. Most likely you will not need to scan a picture of your big degree, they gave you at your graduation ceremony. We would just need to make sure that it says that it was indicated. So if you have questions about that, I would just make sure that you reach out to your.
Former University's registrar to make sure that they do indicate that on their transcripts, but it's just something I like to highlight 'cause it can be quite confusing with the language that we say you know you just so proof of degree proof of diploma, and for most students that are outside of the US, this does mean showing your actual diploma or degree or an attested copy of that. So do keep in mind if you're an international student who did study abroad, that still is required for you. But if you were someone.
Whether you're an international student or domestic student who studied at AUS institution, your final semester of Tran Scripps is usually sufficient to submit to us as long as it has that a degree was awarded listed on that transcript.
OK, so let's talk a little bit about deadlines today or I guess.
Within the next couple days is orientation. RN Gso new graduate student orientation and we are accepting documentation during this week, which is the point of giving this presentation. So if you have not submitted your documentation yet, we can clarify this for you and so you know exactly what you need to submit.
If you have already requested the proof of degree or the final transcripts from your institution, and they have sent it either electronically to our email address or a hard copy to our processing center, then you do not need to submit it again. Please allow us time to process that. It can take a week or two for us to do that. If you did send that.
To us and you don't see an update yet, and it's been over a week or so. Please feel free to shoot us an email and we'll put our email up on the screen at the end, but feel free to shoot us an email and will double check that for you, but again, we are receiving a lot of documentation now. Of course, as everyone is trying to submit that. So thank you for your patience while we get that all process. As long as you get it into us.
During this time, we'll go ahead and get that processed for you, so we have the October 1st date here. Basically, all that is is to let you know that you have until that date to make sure that you have everything sent to us because on October 1st, what we will do is we will place a proof of degree hold on your account.
So what that will do? It will block you from registering for your spring 2021 courses as Kerry mentioned at the beginning of this presentation. It's very important that we have proof that you have graduated, that you have earned your degree because that is a very strict requirement in order to complete a Masters degree, not just the NYU, but pretty much everywhere in the US.
For higher education on the graduate side, so we need verification that you have graduated and earned your degree earned your bachelor's degree, earn equivalent degree.
And that is not just for graduate admissions that also crosses over into the registrar's office as well. So it is very important, and This is why we are stressing that we do need that documentation.
What will happen is once you submit after the October 1st deadline, you have a hold on your account. Once you are able to get your official documentation from your institution, please have that sent in an official capacity, either hard copy or electronic means. Once we receive that documentation and process it.
We will remove that hold from your account and you will no longer see it on your Albert student portal.
OK, so let's talk about where you submit your documents and how you submit them. As I was mentioning earlier, you can submit your documentation via Mail or digitally as long as it sent directly from your institutions registrar. So just to be clear what that means is that it was the only way we can accept something. Your documentation, the only way we can accept it through email or electronically, as if it's sent directly from your institution.
We cannot take scanned copies of degrees that you are scanning yourself and emailing to us. We cannot accept that it has to be sent directly from your institutions registrar just like all of your other documentation. When you originally applied. If your institution does not send documentation digitally which we know, there are quite a few institutions that do not do that, you will need to have requested that they send transcripts to our.
Mailing address which is listed here on the processing for our processing center on this slide.
We do have two email addresses that are on the slide here, engineering.grad.info@nyu.edu or NYU424 nyu.edu. These emails actually go to the same place, so either place that you've emailed it will come to us at all routes to the same place it's our office. So if your institution needs to send us something digitally, please give them one of these email addresses so it comes to us directly. Or, if they're going to be submitting.
Original or attested copies of your documentation to us. They will need to send it to Postal Mail via Postal Mail, to the address on the screen. You'll notice that the address is actually in Pennsylvania, which of course is not where New York University is located. That's where our processing center is located. So Please note that this is a special address that your documents need to be sent to our processing center. Last year was located in Massachusetts. This is a new processing center address, so please make note of that. Do not send it to the same address.
You sent your documents. If you applied really early last fall, it may be a separate address, so please be sure to check out this address. We do have it listed on our website, so if you don't have time to jot it down right this second, it is on our website when you look for application requirements and where to send documents all their listed, but Please note it's really important to note that these are the main two options for you to send your documentation. We know that some of you are going to be on campus this fall in may. Have come with your documents with you.
If your if your University issued them to you before you left your home country, or if you happen to get some issued from US institution before you came here and you have the hard copies of those in your hoping to drop those off to our office. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and social distancing regulations, that is not going to be possible. Our office will be closed. The one on campus as far as we know for the entire fall semester.
Our staff are working remotely, so either you will not be able to drop off those documents physically to our office. So if you do have those documents with you, we recommend you mailing them to the address above so that we can get those processed for you. And then we also or if your institution is able to just send a digital version, we request that you reach out to them to do that. Also note that do not Mail your documents to the office of admissions either as.
You can probably tell, since I said We're not going to be in the office, we can't actually process any of those documents. We only will have staff being able to go in once every couple of weeks to pick up Mail from the physical office on tangents campus. So if you would like your documentation to be processed as quickly as possible and not have any delays, send it to the processing center address that's listed on this slide that's in Pennsylvania.
OK, so that's your two main options on how to send your documentation.
And one quick additional note, For those of you who are starting fall 2020 term at NYU Shanghai, Please note that you still need to have your final documentation degree certificate. Final transcript sent to the US processing center. They do not have capabilities at NYU Shanghai to process the materials and the transcripts into our system, so please make sure that you are.
Also, sending it to our processing center if it's a hard copy or having your school send it to one of our two email addresses and electronic official copy.
OK, so that pretty much concludes our presentation. Thank you everybody for joining us and we hope that this helped clarify. If you had any doubts, this help clarify what it is that you need to submit. At this point we're going to open up the session to question and answers, so please feel free to put your question in that queue. That questions chat box and we will go through and read them.
One quick note, when you submit your question.
You may not see it in that chat box, but we can see it on our end, so please don't duplicate the question will make it available for everyone to see once were answering it so we can do them one at a time or kind of group similar questions together.
We've also put up our email again, but on the screen, so please make sure you got that down if you don't already have it. So the engineering background info or the NYU for two. For Carrie mentioned, they are the same email address, they'll go to the same inbox so you can use either one.
And then the last thing is that we will have one on one sessions available for you to meet with admissions staff, but we want to make sure it's very clear that these sessions are just for information. If you have a very specific case they are not in order for you to submit any documentation, as we've already clarified during this presentation, we will not be accepting soft copies or unofficial copies of your documentation, so that is not what this session would be for.
If you have just if any, if your doubts are clarified by this presentation, you do not need to meet with someone.
That really is only if you know you have a very specific issue so that we can help you give you more information about that. Essentially, if you just want to know if you're missing documents or what specifically you need, you can just shoot us an email and we will look that up for you and give you the information that you need. So please only use this one on one session if it is not one of those scenarios.
Might as well cutting garden with the Q&A.
10:27:14 AM
I sent my provisional certificate along with all transcripts. Do I still need to submit my degree?
Yeah, so I see a question here that says I sent my provisional certificate along with all of my transcript. That might be OK. So it depends on when you graduated. So if you've graduated over a year ago, then Yes, you must submit your degree. We understand that most institution in India take six months to a year to actually give your full diploma, so we do accommodate that. So if you just just graduated right before attending, that is not required right now.
However, you will eventually need to submit that when it is issued to you, and typically we will start putting a hold on your account for that between six months or around six months out from the time in which you were issued, or I'm sorry the time in which you graduated, so do be sure to know that even though if you just graduated, we don't need your degree certificate for you to start right now. We will need that eventually. That is this.
Requirement but again like I said, if you graduated over a year ago then Yes it is required for you to submit that. But most likely you would have submitted that at the time of application because it was due at the time of application. If you had graduated over a year ago, so I hope that explains that.
10:28:34 AM
My exams have finished, however I will not be able to submit the official document before September 15th because of all the confusion going on here in India. I spoke to Ms. Elizabeth Ensweiler and she said that I can start without submitting the docs, however there will be a hold on my spring semester
OK, so we have a question from srisha so she shot. If you've already been in contact with Miss Ensweiler, you have already resolved your case. So basically it sounds like what she told you was the exact same thing that we just went over. If you don't submit your proof of degree and your documentation by October 1st, you will get a hold put on your account which will block registration for the spring semester so.
As soon as you're able to receive that documentation, just go ahead and send it to us and will process it and remove that hold for you. I do want to mention that obviously during these particular times during the COVID-19 epidemic or pandemic, sorry.
We tried to be as flexible as possible, so we understand that there are some scenarios that may not fit specifically into this, but of course we're trying to be as flexible as possible. But Please note that we do still need to adhere to our regular policies that are in place for a reason, so official documentation is very important and required not only by just the graduate admissions office, but by the registrar's office, so please keep that in mind when you're asking questions or wondering about what you need to submit.
Yeah, and just sit go off of that really quickly. I see that she mentioned the September 15th deadline. I just wanted to be clear to everyone. September 15th is the last day you can add or drop courses. So what happens after that is as fierce still taking courses after the 15th you will be required to pay for the your semester of of course is so that's why we were asking for certain situations to have things in by that date. So just keep that in mind the date for.
I dropped is September 15th.
10:30:52 AM
Hi I am in Cyber Fellows with full online degree. I getting some generic emails with medical and immunization forms to be submitted. Are these applicable for me?
OK, there's a question here that isn't really related to our documentation. You may have missed it in the beginning here. I'll just quickly quickly say this for documentation. That isn't something that's going to admissions, so for something that's related to medical or immunization forms, you need to contact the Health Center for that. Unfortunately, our office the admissions office doesn't have any information on that, so if you are a student that has questions about whether or not those are required for you or where you need some.
We submit them. Please reach out to the Health Center. I'm sure this week, during orientation there will be lots of times in which you can reach out to them and they will be available. So we highly recommend that you do that. The documentation that we're talking about today is only something that the graduate admissions actually needs for you to submit to us. However, you may still need to submit other documentation like I mentioned at the beginning of the presentation.
10:31:35 AM
In response to an email I got reminding me I needed to submit these documents, I had my school send the official docs to nyu424@nyu.edu but was wondering if there is any way to confirm my documents were received and processed
And we have another question from Patrick and he asks in response to an email I got reminding me need submit documents. I did already send my official documents to our email address and he was wondering if there's any way to confirm Patrick it will take a little bit of time for us to process it. So if it's been about.
A week or two and you haven't seen an update yet. Please feel free to email us whether it be to the engineering dot dot info email address or the NYU42 four and we will double check your account an check to see if it's been processed yet. Although I will mention that you are able to see that on your application status page.
Actually, no, you may not be able to if you've if you're submitting and probably never mind forget that. But yeah, just feel free to send us an email an will double check for you that it has been processed and received.
10:32:37 AM
Can I send a soft copy of my degree?
To be clear, then expect more copies of your diploma or your final certificate that does not meet the requirements.
There's a question here with asking if you move the medisoft copy of your degree. Just to be clear, then except sell copies of your diploma or your final certificate that does not meet the requirement, we must all official versions of that, and again I'll put this slide back up here of what we mean by official.
I'm so just please make sure that you're sending them the proper way. Like I also said, if you're able, if your institution is able to provide attested copies. So what we mean by attested is not the very like original original document, but your institution can make copies of the original document and put their watermark or their seal on the document to attest that it is original from the institution still, and will also accept that. But we will not take self copies or anything issued directly from the student.
10:33:33 AM
May I know the deadline for fall 2020 ar NYU tandon ?
And the next question we have is, May I know the deadline for fall 2020 and my Ute and and I'm assuming you mean for document submission. So we are encouraging you to make sure you get your documentation requested and sent in this week. But we are giving you the grace period up until October 1st. At that point ahold will be placed on your account. If you haven't submitted your transcripts Yep and then a follow up question by the same person.
10:34:15 AM
I have received transcripts envelope from my institute, can I send the envelope from my address?
Is saying that they have received their transcripts in a sealed envelope and he's wondering if he can then send that envelope to us, although we prefer it to come directly from the institution. If you do have your transcripts, your official final transcripts, or proof of degree.
In a sealed envelope that you either picked up from your school or you received from your school, you can go ahead and send that to us and we will consider it official, but I just want to stress that it must be like in the sealed envelope from your school, not you putting it in an envelope that is sealed, if that makes sense. I just want to be very clear because it again in order for it to be considered official by our policies and standards, it needs to be come directly from the institution.
10:35:04 AM
As for the Canadian schools, should I also just send the official transcript?
OK, we have a question here asking about. As for Canadian schools, should I also just send the official transcript? I think that what you're asking here is do you need to send the diploma for most international institutions, we would still need the diploma or proof of graduation. I know that the Canadian system is typically quite similar to the US system and how they issued transcripts. However, depending on what province you're in.
It is going to vary, so overall I would recommend having your institution still issue that a degree was awarded and have that submitted just like we're requesting.
10:35:44 AM
Till what time is my provisional certificate valid if I sent it with my application?
Next question till what time is my provisional certificate valid? If I send it with my application, I do believe Carrie address this earlier in earlier question, but basically we're just trying to be flexible 'cause we know it takes time for your affiliated University to process and send out your official degree certificate. So typically it will be valid for about a year or so. But keep in mind that the hold will still be placed on your account.
An it won't be removed until we receive the official degree certificate.
The next question is asking if they can see the address and phone number for the Courier Company.
The next question is asking if they can see the address and phone number for the Courier Company? Or could you provide it?
To wait, let me read that again, I'm sorry. Could you provide the address and phone number for the Courier company to send the Mail? OK, so the address I'll put back up here. So this is the address you need to send it to the phone number. You can put as in why you tandon's phone number? That's fine, but mostly they'll they usually ask for your phone number as well, just in case the package there's an issue with it so they can contact you. But if you need our phone number, it is listed on the website.
10:37:03 AM
Could you provide the addressee and phone number for the courier company to send the mail
I'll see if I can find that while we're answering questions here, but if I run out of time you can find it on our website, but they address for where you need to send it to is up on the screen.
10:37:15 AM
Is there a way to determine if the transcripts have been delivered from India
Is there a way to determine if transcripts have been delivered from India? So this kind of a similar to question Liani or answered already. If you're unsure if your documents have been delivered to our processing center and you've given it several weeks, what first of all I would say if you have a tracking number from the package that you sent, make sure that you're checking that. If it shows it has been delivered to our processing center, please still give us a couple of weeks to add that documentation to your.
Actual file before you reach out to us to ask if it has been updated. If it has been a few weeks since it's been delivered, then of course reach out to us by email, which is on this slide right now and we'd be more than happy to look at your your application and make sure that that has been processed and there's nothing else on your account that's needed.
10:38:08 AM
Can I bring the original document along with me when I will be joining classes in Brooklyn?
Another question is, can I bring the original document along with me when I come to classes in Brooklyn? The answer is no, because our office will be closed, so there will be no one in our office to receive your documentation. You need to have it either emailed from your University or sent to our processing center.
10:38:43 AM
Hi, I only submitted a transcirpt without final term grade during my application process but I don't have a hold on my Albert. So do I have to submit it again?
Another question is, I only submitted a transcript without final term grade during my application process, but I don't have a hold on my Albert. So do I have to submit it again? While you wouldn't have a hold on your Albert yet because October 1st is the deadline for that. So yes, you do need to submit your final transcript showing your last term that is important and also your degree certificate, or if it's a US school, those final transcripts will have the degree awarded information.
On them, but to be clear, you will not have a hold on your account yet, so.
That's the point of us telling you what you need. You need to submit that now, because if you don't then you will get a hold on your account.
Just to be clear, the reason that we're asking for this again is because we you must show us that you completed that final term that you didn't withdrawal or flunk out in that final term, and that you actually completed your requirements to get a degree because you have to buy. Basically, like every US institution and most institutions in the world, you have to complete your undergraduate degree before you're eligible to continue on.
So if we don't have that final transcript from you, we can't prove that. Therefore we cannot allow you to continue to study. That's basically the whole premise here. So if you didn't submit that final transcript, you haven't submitted that diploma. It's pertinent that you send that to us for us to understand that you did complete your requirements, and that you're ready to start on. That is your responsibility to do that. And as Leon he was saying, we are giving you a grace period in order for you to be able to get that documentation to us, and that grace period is up until October 1st.
That's when we'll say we can't wait for that documentation any longer. You need to be able to submit it to us now and we won't allow you to continue on your studies and register for the next semester unless we have the documentation.
10:40:37 AM
Dear officer, if I have that 'diploma hold' in the future, can I upload my diploma after Oct.1st and get the hold removed?
Next question I see here is I have a diploma hold for in the future. Can I upload mode my diploma after October 1st and get the hold removed? OK so a diploma holders actually different from the proof of degree hold? I know that's quite confusing but you alot of you may see a diploma hold in your Albert account right now. That's actually not doing anything to your account. That's something that every student gets on their account and it's just relation to when you need to graduate from Tandon.
It's not about requesting your previous diploma from your previous institution or the previous degree that you had, so you still need to submit your final diploma and proof of degree from your previous institution before October 1st. That hold won't get removed. That is not from the admissions office that is from the office of academics. That's not something that our office processes. I know that can be confusing with the language. Both are saying diploma, but do keep in mind that those are different.
10:41:38 AM
My certificate and transcripts are evaluated by a US Agency. So Is that possible if they submite to NYU?
I see your question here in my certificate and transcripts are evaluated by US agency. So is it possible for them to submit them to NYU?
Unfortunately no, we do not take just. Let's, just like when you were applying, we don't take anything that has been through like another agency's hands. We need to see the original documentation from your original institution. It is important for us in order for us to be able to validate that those documents are official. They must come from the original institution.
And I also see a lot of just to save a little bit of time. I'm going to group these together. A lot of questions asking How can they know of their transcripts or degree were delivered successfully. Please send us an email and we can check that for you.
and there's another question asking can I only submit transcript which states that my degree has been earned since I only have one card copy of my degree certificate at my school, only issues copies of transcripts, and it's from a UK institution, we do sometimes.

Can I only submit a transcript which states that my degree has been earned? Since I only have one hardcopy of my degree certificate and my school only issues copies of transcripts. (UK institution)
Sometimes we're able to take that, but we need to be able to see the transcript and make sure that it shows exactly what we need. However, typically we do require that degree certificate. I suggest sending us an email letting us know what your situation is so that we can assist you further. But maybe try contacting your institution again to see if they can send us directly the degree certificate. Typically most schools can.
So that we have the actual official documentation that we need, sometimes they only provide one copy to the student, but they are willing to submit.
The unofficial copy to an institution that you're applying too, so definitely check with your school 1st to see if they can send what we need, and then you can always again send us an email an we will assist you further from that point.

Hi! My name is Alba. I have graduated in Barcelona (Spain). I have been trying to get my university issue these documents since April 2020. Unfortunately, due to the situation in Spain, they haven't been able to do it yet and I can not tell if they will be during the next days. What are my options?
Here's a question. Here a student Alba from Spain saying that you've been trying to get your documentation. Your final documentation sent from your institution since April because of kovid situation, there's been some delays. What are your options? So, like we said, we totally understand that some institutions have been closed and there has been some issues in regards to that. This is why we're giving you until the October 1st deadline, so make sure that you're still reaching out to them still requesting that.
And having it sent if by October 1st you're still not able to have that documentation sent. Definitely reach out to our office so we can talk about next steps, but at this point still try to get that documentation into us as soon as you can.

if i cannot provide final trancript by October 1, do I have to defer my offer?
Also, there's a question here that's similar to that if I cannot provide final transcripts by October 1st, do I have to defer my offer? No, you don't need to defer your offer. You're obviously starting for the fall semester now, so you don't need to defer if you do not get your documentation into us by October 1st, what will happen is you 'cause at that time you're going to be able to apply or I mean, to register for spring 2021 courses. So the courses that start.
In late January, so you're not able to register for those courses until we see the documentation. So technically you could get that documentation into us after October 1st, but you're just not able to apply for or. I mean register for your classes for spring.
You can register for classes all the way up until the week before courses start actually and you can switch your classes around even the week after courses start, so you could still technically enroll for that spring term even if you get the documents to us after October 1st. But then you've got to keep in mind that maybe the courses you wanted had filled up by then, and there may be some things that you need to take into consideration, but so we think it's really, really important.
That you try to get your institution to send that documentation. For most institutions I know that there's probably a lot of concern with COVID-19 and things like that, but for most institutions this should not be an issue. If you graduated in the spring of this year or the summer, that documentation typically is issued within a couple of months, and you should be able to get that to us in previous years in why you tandon would actually require you to submit this before orientation, and we would put the hold on.
And you wouldn't be able to register for classes for fall, so we have.
Change that policy obviously, but during that time most students were still able to get their documentation in before August, so do keep in mind that your institution should be able to get it to us by October 1st. If you are worried about that, just reach out to them. But again, you know you can still attend as long as we have it. You just can't register for your courses until we have it, if that makes sense. Hopefully that wasn't confusing.
So we have another question, if my degree is verified on my official transcript, can I just resend my official transcript or do I have to send my proof of degree verification alright so it's going to depend on where your institution is as we went over in the presentation?
If you, if your institution is a US institution, typically the degree awarded information will be on the final transcript. So if when you applied, you submitted a in progress transcript, yes, you will want to submit your official final transcript with your final semester and the degree awarded. If it is an institution outside of the US, you do need to submit your degree verification or your degree certificate. Verifying that you have been.
Awarded a degree and then one quick.

If my degree verified on my official transcript, can I just resend my official transcript or do I have to send my proof of degree verification?
Note on that sometimes universities will issue a passing certificate or a. What's the other one graduation certificate or something like that. Please be aware that that is not proof of degree, that is just you know saying that yes you've graduated or yes you've passed your exams. But what we need to see according to our policy is proof that your degree has been awarded. Those are the Magic words, so degree, conford, degree awarded, etc.

Is CeDiploma version ok as an official document of degree certificate?
That's important for us to know, and then I see another question about is CE diploma version OK's official document? I don't think I'm really familiar with that, so I'm not. I can't say whether we would accept that or not. I would suggest just go ahead and send us an email and kind of explain what that particular diploma submission medium or platform is an we can assist you further from there and let you know if that's something we can.
It looks like we have just one more question before I get into that one. I just wanted to say if there's any last questions here. It looks like we have about 10 minutes left. You can submit them, but I think we should be if we don't get any more questions here, we should be able to cover everything. The last question I see here is someone is stating I submitted my documents and got a reply in the reply email requires me to provide details of my previous institution and update my application.
10:49:34 AM
Hi, I’ve submitted my documents and got reply. In the reply email, it requires me to provide details of my previous institution and update my application. Is that mean I need to upload those files on the NYU application page? And I don’t quite understand what detailed information I need to provide.
Is does that mean I need to upload these files to the application page an? I don't under understand what detailed information I need to provide. OK, this sounds like a very particular case for you specifically, I'm not sure what they asked from you at this point in time. If you have submitted your application, you're admitted in your starting and you're registered for courses you no longer can add anything to your application. So no, you would not need to upload anything to your application.
Any documentation that we are requesting would need to either be sent to our email address or through Mail. What I would suggest is is asking for clarification on what you need to send and reaching out to us in regards to that, because I'm not quite sure what they have asked you to submit. For most students, the things that are required for you to submit for the admissions office or the documentation that we mentioned, which is your final diploma and your final or mean your proof of degree in your final transcript.
So if there is questions about your previous institution and specifics about that, I think that that would be something you need to specifically ask about what's required for you, and definitely reach out to us so we can figure out what's going on in regards to that.
doesn't look like there's any other questions, so I think we'll wrap it up here so you guys have some time to breathe before your next sessions for orientation. I'm again, I just want to highlight if you have specific questions about your your specific case. So like the last question there, please be sure to reach out to us by email. The email addresses here. If you have any issues that come up throughout the semester between now and October 1st, definitely reach out to us.
At theengineering.info email address and we're more than happy to, you know, look into your file, see if there's anything that we can do.
Mentally, only do you want to talk a little bit more about the one on one sessions again for this week?
Sure, so as we've mentioned, excuse me, we do have some one on one sessions available with admissions staff during this week, so if you have a specific case that you do have questions about or that you need to go over then please feel free to use one of those sessions again. This part, these particular one on one sessions are not for submitting documents. They're not for asking regular questions. They're not for asking.
If you need to submit anything, in fact, if you didn't need to submit anything, we sent several emails, the last one being, I believe, on Monday yesterday.
I'm letting you know that you do not need to submit any additional documentation, so please be mindful that there are students that have specific cases that need to have one on one sessions with admission staff. So we want to make sure that it's limited appointment, so we want to make sure that we have that space set aside for people who actually have issues with their case. So if it is just a regular question, general question about whether your document was submitted, I mean.
Whether your document was received or updated or you just want to ask regular questions, please email us an. It'll be a quick. It's probably it's pretty quick. Turn around, right? We respond to emails within 48 hours, 2448 hours, so just go ahead and shoot us an email for any of those regular questions. And if you have any very specific, if you have a specific case or specific questions that were issues then please sign up for one of those one on one sessions.
Yeah, well, I think that's it for us today. We hope that this has been an informational session for you and you're able to have any of your doubts answered. And I know it can be a confusing time. There's a lot of different offices on campus asking for a lot of different information so we know it can be confusing, so we appreciate your patience and we hope that we were able to provide some clarity for you today. We also hope that you're excited to do the rest of orientation and hope that you have a great time.
And are able to have a great semester. Again. If you need anything from us, feel free to reach out by email. We'd be happy to assist you.
Through the next sort of process, but again, we hope that you'll be able to connect with some some other amazing offices on campus now that you're officially a student, and we hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Thank you so much for attending.
By everyone and Congrats again.
